Common issues
Screenshots are not being detected
GhostSnap works by watching the folder where macOS saves your screenshots. If your screenshot destination is set to Clipboard, GhostSnap has no file to detect and will not trigger. To fix this, open Screenshot.app (⌘⇧5), click Options → Save to, and choose a folder such as Desktop or Downloads. GhostSnap will immediately start detecting screenshots saved to that location.
Cmd+V is not pasting my screenshots
GhostSnap needs Accessibility permission to detect Cmd+V.
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and make sure GhostSnap is enabled. If it is not listed, relaunch the app. It will prompt you automatically.
OCR text capture is not working
OCR requires Screen Recording permission.
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording and enable GhostSnap. After granting permission, restart GhostSnap for the change to take effect. If it is not listed, relaunch the app. It will prompt you automatically.
Where are my screenshots stored?
GhostSnap creates a GhostSnap/ folder inside your Downloads. Inside it, a compressed/ folder holds your auto-compressed screenshots, and a session file tracks the current batch. The compressed versions are what get copied to your clipboard, keeping file sizes small for faster pasting and lower token usage with AI tools. You can open this folder anytime from the Settings panel (⌥Space).
